Overview

The Triangle Association for the Science of Creation is proud to announce our online Biblical Creation Science Conference coming this November! We are blessed to have four leading creation scientists as speakers: Dr. Robert Carter of Creation Ministries International, Drs. Brian Thomas and Vernon Cupps of the Institute for Creation Research, and Dr. Change Tan of the University of Missouri. We will also have a variety of creation science speakers and topics in the afternoon in two breakout sessions (go to CreationScienceConference.com for more information). As an attendee, you will be able to attend up to seven talks. We hope you will join us!

We live in a day when many people are confused about reality, if it exists or if it can be known with certainty. Christians have revered the Bible as absolute truth for millennia, but it is under attack today on several fronts. Can the Bible be trusted when it comes to science? Some say that science has disproven the first chapters of Genesis, presumably relegating it to the category of myth. Allegedly, science has “proven” that humans evolved as a population and could not have descended from a single couple, that the fossil record was laid down over hundreds of millions of years during which evolution took place, that radiometric dating has shown the earth is 4.6 billion years old, and life could have emerged from a prebiotic soup by the action of chemistry and physics alone.  Well, there is solid scientific evidence that is consistent with humans descending from Adam and Eve in the last several thousand years; that shows the fossil record was laid down more or less simultaneously, globally, just a few thousand years ago during Noah's Flood; that all humans descended from Noah and his three sons as Genesis teaches; that radiometric dating is flawed and actually supports a young earth; and that the inner workings of even the simplest cell defy abiogenesis and provide strong evidence for intelligent design. Our plenary and breakout speakers will discuss these and other topics showing Genesis can be trusted as history.

Plenary Speakers

Dr. Robert Carter

Robert Carter obtained a BS in Applied Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1992. He then spent four years teaching high school biology, chemistry, physics and electronics before going to the University of Miami to obtain his PhD in Marine Biology. He successfully completed this program in 2003 with a dissertation on “Cnidarian Fluorescent Proteins.” While in Miami, he studied the genetics of pigmentation in corals and other invertebrates, designed and built an aquaculture facility for Caribbean corals, performed well over 500 SCUBA dives, many of them at night, and licensed a spin-off product of his research (a patented fluorescent protein) to a biotech company.

He is currently a senior scientist and speaker for CMI-USA in Atlanta, Georgia, and is currently researching human genetics and other issues related to biblical creation. He has written many papers for secular and creationist journals.

Dr. Brian Thomas

Brian Thomas received a master’s degree in biotechnology in 1999 from Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas, and a Ph.D. in paleobiochemistry in 2019 from the University of Liverpool. He taught junior high and high school at Christian schools in Texas, as well as biology, chemistry, and anatomy as an adjunct and assistant professor at Dallas-area universities. In 2008 Dr. Thomas joined the Institute for Creation Research as a science writer and editor, contributing news and magazine articles, speaking on creation issues, and researching original tissue fossils. He was appointed as Research Associate in 2019. He is the author of Dinosaurs and the Bible and a contributor to Guide to Creation Basics, Creation Basics & Beyond, Guide to Dinosaurs, Guide to the Human Body, Guide to the Universe, and Dinosaurs: God’s Mysterious Creatures. His dissertation, Ancient and Fossil Bone Collagen Remnants, is available in book form. Brian has written several articles for ICR.

The Multi-dimensional Genome

The human genome is an incredibly complex computer program that operates in at least four dimensions. This includes the 1-D linear string of DNA, the 2-D interactions between different parts of the 1-D string, the 3-D conformation of the DNA in the nucleus, and the changes to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd dimensions over time (making the genome 4-D). The complexity of the genome was not predicted by evolutionary theorists and their resistance to an increased understanding of this complexity has hindered scientific advancement.  Not only that, but the level of complexity, even as currently understood, is extremely difficult for evolution to explain, and our knowledge of this complexity is increasing daily. In the Origin of Species, Darwin famously said, "If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed, which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down.“ My challenge to the evolutionist is to explain the origin of the genome using a workable scenario that includes the source of informational changes, an account of the amount of mutation necessary, and a description of the selective forces necessary, all within the proper time frame. I claim the genome could not have arisen through naturalistic processes and, therefore, Darwin’s theory absolutely breaks down.

Dr. Change Tan

If Darwin Were Alive Today

Dr. Tan will discuss the origin of life and the origin of biodiversity from the perspective of synthetic life, the junction of chemistry and biology (and what Darwin might have done had he known what we know today).

Dr. Brian Thomas

Soft Tissues in Solid Rocks!

Were red blood cells really discovered inside dinosaur bones? Are “fossilized” structures that look just like blood vessels, cells, and skin actually from the original creatures? Yes! Original, organic materials show why rocks and fossils look thousands—not millions—of years old.

Dr. Vernon Cupps

Deep Time: Last Stand of Modern Secular Science

Dr. Cupps will seek to show that there is significant scientific evidence that supports the Historical narratives found in the Holy Bible.  Evidence from fields as varied as History, the Life Sciences, Astronomy, and Geology with a particular focus on the primary fallback for all deep time advocates, i.e., radioisotope dating and the Isochron Age Model.

The Scientific Method and Modern Science:  Hijacking Science

“Strange times are these in which we live, when old and young are taught falsehoods in school. And the person that dares to tell the truth is called at once a lunatic and fool”.  Plato.

Science was always meant to be used by anyone who wished to investigate the natural world around them.  It was not meant nor designed to be hijacked by one group to integrate into their philosophical beliefs especially as a cornerstone for lending credence to those philosophical beliefs.

Two Scientific Developments & Their Effect on Cosmology

The role played by plasma physics in the formation of galaxies, stars and planets is just being explored by astronomers.  Concurrently, an understanding of how the Zero Point Energy (ZPE) controls the properties of the vacuum is engaging cosmologists. Together, these two developments may allow a scientific approach to a recent creation. See what you think!

5 Personal Discoveries (that led me from evolution to creation)

Where did we come from? Do questions about origins matter to the core doctrines of Christianity? Dr. Thomas’ personal story of discovery touches on the earth’s age, the fossil record, and why Genesis is foundational to the gospel.

Presuppositions and Bias in the Creation/Evolution Debate

Most everyone has probably heard the pronouncement from the evolutionary establishment that “Evolution is empirical science while creation is merely religion.”  Is this statement accurate?  Is evolution really more scientific than creation and creation more religious than evolution?  Dr. Greear will discuss these questions by defining “science” and examining the role of one’s presuppositions in the creation-evolution debate. He will also examine both the evolutionary model and the Biblical creation model of origins and compare them SCIENTIFICALLY to determine which model better explains the present evidence. He will then give a few examples of evidence that seem to be much better explained by the creation model.

"A New Hope: Reaching a Turning Point in the Natural Sciences"

We will discuss the history and trajectory of the role of creationism in the natural sciences. Recent work has transitioned creation science from apologetic defense to offense, flipping many of the arguments commonly used by evolutionists against them. Now, creation science is growing beyond apologetics into a solid scientific foundation that better supports new discoveries than its opposition, even without an apologetic motive. This turning point brings hope for a new era of scientific discovery.

Coral Reefs and Noah’s Flood

The size and structure of coral reefs has been a strong argument for evolutionists ever since Darwin's famous book on the subject. Since coral reefs are limited to shallow depths, evolutionists claim the presence of extinct coral reefs deep in the ocean and deep in the rock record are an inexplicable puzzle for young-earth beliefs, yet this is not nearly the challenge evolutionists make it out to be. We will analyze several important reef claims, including the buried "reefs" associated with oil in Alberta, the Capitan "reef" of Texas and New Mexico, the incredible "reef" thickness of Eniwetok Atoll, and the relative youth of The Great Barrier Reef of Australia, showing that the evidence fits the timescale given in the Bible.

Fungi: Created as unique organisms that contribute in so many ways to our earth’s environment, or organisms that evolved from some other organism or came into existence by chemical accidents?

Living organisms traditionally have been separated somewhat arbitrarily into various groupings such as plants, animals, humans, bacteria, etc.  In more recent times the fungi have been given their own Kingdom status because of their unique characteristics.  In this talk we will explore the “good, the bad, and the ugly” concerning fungi.  They are more important than most realize, so let’s dig in and see if we can have a better understanding of the wondrous world known as the Fungal Kingdom!
